I went into Delhi this morning for a meeting. It was the first time I have seen the rush hour morning traffic into Delhi from Noida. At one stop light we had to wait about 6 light changes to get through. Everyone is in a mad rush, there are no such things as traffic rules, and as a result traffic comes to a standstill. It makes 169 and 494 look like a breeze way. I have never seen so many people walking on the side of the road either.

One area which bottlenecks into Delhi is supposed to be a 4 lane road. I counted 7 lanes of cars in this section.

All in all it took about an hour and a half to go 15 miles. We had what I counted 4 close calls – missed another car by about an inch. I only heard my driver swear once, at least I think it was swearing, it was definitely yelling and hand gestures.
