Today I experienced my first true traffic jams. Everything before was minor compared to this. We started off later today around 9. It ended up taking 45 minutes to go 2 miles. From what I heard this will be happening for the next month. There is an annual religious pilgrimage and the people of this cannot be bothered as they walk from site to site. They walk from Delhi to a city about 500km away over 300miles barefoot. The people do this who made a wish during the year and the wish came true. The walk is there way of praising the gods. There feet are covered in cuts and sores as a result of walking barefoot. They all wear a saffron color clothing so they can be easily spotted. They say there are thousands of people that do this. People driving on the roads respect this and just wait. Kind of like the cows. If a cow comes wandering on a road, people just stop and wait for it to move off. If it takes a while someone will finally get out of there car and try to kindly persuade it to move on.
